Emily Teaching

Jill Kerr

Jill Kerr is registered with the Health Professionals Council, a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the organisation of Physiotherapists in Private Practice and a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. She qualified as a chartered Physiotherapist in 1988, obtaining a BSc in Physiotherapy from Queen's College in Glasgow. She was awarded a commendation prize.

Jill began her career in London working as a Junior Physiotherapist at Guys Hospital where she worked for 2 years gaining valuable experience in all areas of Physiotherapy. During this period Jill was fortunate to work with highly specialised therapists from whom she gained invaluable experience.

Following this Jill found her passion to be treating Musculoskeletal conditions and started to specialise in this field. Jill has attended post graduate courses on a regular basis to ensure she remains clinically up to date and has an evidence based approach to treatment. These courses include qualifications in Orthopaedic Medicine, Injection Therapy, Acupuncture, Muscle Imbalance, Taping, Neurodynamics and many more...

Over the years Jill has worked within the NHS and in Private Sector both in London and Edinburgh gaining clinical, teaching and managerial experience. She discovered that she had a skill in teaching post graduate Physiotherapists and Doctors and developed this becoming a tutor for the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine in 1995. Jill has taught on these courses throughout the UK, Europe and Asia and is currently a Module Leader for the Advanced Module in Clinical Practice of Musculoskeletal Medicine and Module leader for the new module on Special Tests in Musculoskeletal Medicine. Jill is involved in the organization of the modules and the development of the core and advanced modules. The Special Tests course was developed by Jill and Paul Hattam and launched at end of 2012. In 2006 Jill was awarded an Msc in Orthopaedic Medicine by Middlesex University and is currently a Module Leader ad Professional Advisor for students enrolled in that very same Masters programme. Jill is also co author of the textbook "A Practical Approach to Orthopaedic Medicine", 3rd Edition 2010 published by Atkins, Kerr and Goodlad. Jill has worked soley in Private practice since 1997 initially from home in 65 Nile Grove, then into rented premises (Dermal Clinic) until 2013. Jill launched TherapEase Treatment Centre in November 2013; a multi-therapy clinic on 382 Morningside Road. This new clinic means Jill is surrounded by other like-minded professional therapists who will work in a multi-disciplinary team.

Emily Goodlad

Emily Goodlad is an HCPC Registered and Chartered Physiotherapist. She has Specialised in Musculoskeletal problems for over 20 years, working in the NHS, private practice and professional football, aquiring extensive experience and expertise in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitating of soft tissue injuries. Emily is also a postgraduate lecturer for the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine, teaching Medical Practitioners and Physiotherapists who wish to Specialise in Musculoskeletal Medicine at MSc level. Emily is co-author of 'A Practical Approach to Orthopaedic Medicine' with Jill and Dr Elaine Atkins, and a chapter in an American Physical Therapy textbook. 'Low Back Pain- A Case Based Approach'. She is currently registered on the PhD programme at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, and is 6 months into her PhD. She is thoroughly enjoying it.

Ruth Bradley

Ruth Bradley studied Physiotherapy In Edinburgh, graduating in 2012 with a B.Sc. Hons. Ruth has worked in the NHS and gained experience in all aspects of Physiotherapy including Sports, and in particular rugby. Postgraduate training in Pilates has led Ruth into teaching Pilates as a Physiotherapist, and she has several years of experience. Ruth has discovered the benefits of Pilates for her clients, in particular strengthening and maintaining spinal strength and stability. Ruth enjoys the challenge of teaching and progressing clients through a programme of new exercises. Ruth can modify exercises to suit everyone as needed. Ruth has completed further postgraduate training in acupuncture, taping, sports injuries to enhance her assessment and treatment options. Ruth is a fantastic addition to the team.

Dawn Waitt

Dawn Waitt is Specialist in Women's Health and Pelvic pain eg stress incontinence, frequency or urge incontinence. A confidential, and professional approach to assessing the causes of your bladder control and pelvic floor function.

Jacqui Archer

Jacqui Archer MSc, MCSP, MMAP joins the Specialist MSK Physio team: originally from New Zealand Jacqui has over 30 years of clinical experience has recently moved to Edinburgh from London. She completed a Sports Diploma at the University of London and her Masters in Physiotherapy at University College London. She has worked both in NHS and privately and specialises in spinal pain, joint pain and sports injuries. Prevention of injury recurrence and regaining full function is her aim when working with patients. Jacqui has a very hands on approach and tailors treatment to each individual patient.

Lucy Camlin

Lucy Camlin joins the team at Jill Kerr Physio as a Qualified Physiotherapist from Queen Margaret University who is training to be an Musculoskeletal Specialist with the team. Lucy is a full time hockey player for Scotland and is team Physiotherapist for Scotland under 16 Hockey. Sports injuries and sport massage are the current areas of interest for Lucy. As Lucy is still undergoing further Specialist Training with Jill the fees to see her are lower at £38 initial assessment and £35 for follow ups.

At Jill Kerr Physiotherapy Edinburgh all the therapists continue to develop academically and clinically to ensure clients receive the most appropriate and up to date treatments suitable for them.
